Hello Dolls!

Experiencing my first New York winter taught me that seasonal depression is certainly real thing! I’ve always found myself in a better mood during the warmer months, but with the stress and grayness of the city, it’s a struggle to not allow the ambiance affect me emotionally. There’s nothing we can change about the weather, but what we can do is change the way we cope. Of course, the obvious, if you’re are or think that you are dealing with clinical depression, you should DEFINITELY seek counseling or therapy to address those issues.

One way I like to relieve some stress that we all can get from time to time, find a healthy task that relaxes you and that you enjoy! This could mean taking a walk, meditating, attending yoga sesh, or a going for a run. I live and work within 10 minutes of Central Park, so I’ll often take a walk over to recharge, relax, and pray. Through the hustle and bustle, it’s nice to have a “happy place” to really get away from it all.

Another important but difficult point is to try to unplug for a bit. This is particularly hard for me as a fashion blogger because it requires constant connection to the cyber-world. I’ve seen first hand, that it is certainly possible to have too much of a good thing.With that being said, it’s so refreshing and stabilizing it is to go device-free for an hour or two a day to let go off toxic energy from over-use.

As New Yorkers, we constantly feel like we need to be “on our grind” and “hustling”, which is totally true! The reason I came to New York was to work hard and make something of myself, but, like I said, you can have too much of a good thing. There comes a point where you must simply take a deep breath. Because let’s face it, at the end of the day, the most important part of you is your health and well-being.If that is not up to par, it doesn’t matter how much money you can make or how established you’ve become.

The best way to defeat stress or anything you’re dealing with is by praying. 1 Thessalonians 5:17 states to “pray without ceasing”; so, whether you’re happy, sad, successful, or struggling, you should call to the Lord indefinitely. Focus on enjoying the life that He has blessed you with instead of wasting it by stressing the small stuff! Live your life, and love your life!
