Trends to Try in Summer 2015

June 7, 2015

Hello Dolls!

This summer, its all about mixing structure and sleekness with feminine and flirty. It’s about taking 70’s inspired styles and giving them an modern and edgy twist. Combining clean, sharp lines with soft, flowy ones. Don’t be afraid to mix and match with these warm-weather styles!

1. Midi Skirts

So classy! I love how glamorous and vintage-y these skirts are. You can go sexy with a body con pencil skirt that hits right at the calf or go girly with a tea-length, tulle skirt. A crop top and midi skirt combo is so much fun! It’s a fabulous way to rock a crop top without revealing too much. However, I HIGHLY suggest wearing the midi with some heels so your legs won’t appear shorter and give you a frumpy look! Check out my previous blog post to see how you can rock to midi skirt here.

2. Hippy-Inspired Maxis

You’ll look as though you stepped out of the seventies with this summer staple. It’s flowy, light, and looks fantastic on any body type! Just slip it on with a pair of strappy sandals and a big sunhat and you’re set!

3. Lady in Red

Ever heard of the phrase, “When in doubt, wear red”? Well, that seems especially true for this summer with all of the bold red hitting the streets. And who doesn’t love a color that makes the wearer look and feel totally confident!

4. Lux Tux

Bianca Jagger and Madonna are among the many women that turned the tuxedo into a powerful, strong statement for women while still being sleek and sexy. Just add a pair of pointed-toe stillettos and a red lip to make to look totally feminine!

5. Cool Jumpsuit

Another way to add a little flare to a basic pant, and will make the wearer appear taller and slimmer! You’ll stand out at a summer party in a sea of sundresses with this cool piece!

6. Lovely Lace

Add a girly touch to any ensemble with a little lace. You can go casual with a pair of lace-trimmed shorts or a lace crop top, or you can go dressy with a sundress. You can always add an unexpected edge with a wide rimmed hat, statement jewelry, or a pair of chunky shoes.

7. Birks

I can’t help but be reminded of the trend from about 10 years ago (back in my tragic, middle school days) when the Birkenstock clogs where all the rage. Now, the sandal version has been walking summer streets! You all know I am a huge stilettos girl, but I’m always down to try a fun trend! Did I mention how comfy they are! Perfect for lazy weekends, long walks, or any casual ensemble.
