Hello Dolls!

It’s no secret that I’m probably the one of the girliest-girls in the world. I’ve been pretty well known to get dressed up for, well, just about anything! But every now and then, I don’t mind switching it up a little. Like I mentioned in my previous article, what’s life if you don’t switch it up a little and leave yourself guessing?

Although I’m certainly not the type of girl to wear sweats on every given day (and if I do, you should be worried!) but there’s something refreshing about occasionally dressing down. Also, moving to New York City has allowed me to better channel that casual/downtown/street vibe. Plus, with the holidays coming up, I don’t mind allowing myself to dress down for a cozy get-together, intimate gathering, gift-shopping trip, tree-lighting show, and ugly Christmas sweater party. So, I’ve rounded up some of my favorite denim as well as casual pieces that even the most typically extravagantly dressed chick can slay in!

Throw on an oversized jacket with a flirty, aline skirt and thigh high tights and/or boots for a cool, 90’s inspired look. Drape it over the shoulder for some added glamour.

A more breathable alternative to jeans, the legging is a total staple for the winter. But don’t limit to just an oversized sweater (which still looks fabulous!) and play with flowy mini-dresses and long vests.

These are not like your everyday Nikes, but stylish sneakers you wouldn’t mind trading your high heels for. These are perfect for your daily commute or even as your shoe of the day. They look casual and cute with a rolled-up jean, or edgy and youthful with a pair of black tights and a short or mini-skirt combo.

This is another practical piece, especially for running around the City. I love using a tote to hold my laptop, as a gym bag, or as an easy alternative to my typical handbag.

No dressed-down list is complete without the staple item for everyone’s closet. Add your own style to the otherwise basic piece by opting for jeans with on-trend colors, jewels, patches, prints, embellishments, and embroidering!
